Slant 6 POWAH.

What’s the thing rated at , 350hp-ish ?

I don’t know, but I would guess way less.

I’d not be spending my lottery money on a slant-6. Probably an LS-7 crate engine into some totally mundane late-70s G-body sedan.

225's are good for one thing only: being ridiculously reliable and also not being supercharged.

meh, if I had “fuck you” money I’d make “fuck you” engines.
My slant 6 is the heart of the truck, so I wouldn’t change that (unless it dies).

I’d spend up to half that not to live in Florida.

Well, technically for that money you are your own state.

I now want a G-Nose S30. I’d do this to a 280Z. Put a turbo L-28 in there.

I’ll have to dig through some old pictures. A couple of years ago there was a guy that brought a tricked out slant-6 to cars and coffee.

Yah, 350 is probably a little high. I would think with that supercharger you’d get at least 50% more than stock. Slant 6s we re good for 200ish, right? So, maybe 275-300 is a more appropriate target.

Mines good for about 80hp

One Finnish dude has been building a supercharged S lant Six for a ‘61 Dodge Dart Pioneer with a fairly tight budget. But the dude is pretty skilled and even did cast the two adapte rs to mate the supercharger, the intake manifold and the carburetor .

Exactly. I have been working on Slants for over 20 years at this point and the head design is just too bad to make any real power. That combined with the gigantic stroke and it’s just not worth it.

wonder what a slant 6 with a hot cam would sound like?

Even the Super Six didn’t crack 150 at the crank. Lots of torque but RPM’s to make any horsepower. A good running two barrel slant six might make 100hp.

If I won the lottery...
The Rally Takeover would finally buy and take over Jalopnik

I love my slants and have tried to modify them in the past and they just weren’t worth it.
If I were to swap out my slant it would probably be a 2JZ with the Toyota auto. You can get a donor car for about 1500 bucks these days and it will still be a strait 6

If I ever put a different engine in my M37 Dodge truck it would be a slant 6 I think. But I need an OS Giken Hakosuka motor for my Z...Only $30k

Between Hughes, Clifford, and Aussiespeed, you can build a pretty cool cool NA, blower, or turbo slant. Turbo + megasquirt would be a good choice. Understand they can live at 20psi without a lot of issues...

I really like Torqstorm. At my previous job, we worked with these guys to develop their Oldsmobile kits. They’re great to work with and build superchargers for all sorts of oddballs such as Slant 6's and Flathead Fords.
We picked up 208 horsepower at 10 psi on a 361 small block Olds. We went from 466/434 hp/tq naturally aspirated to 674/596 with the blower. Additionally, we tuned it using Holley’s Sniper EFI and it was an excellent, super simple combination that worked extremely well.
Here’s the small block during mock up.
